Newquay

Great beaches, an array of shops, restaurants, takeaway to a la carte, great pubs and a thriving nightlife with many clubs that stay open until early morning. Plenty of places to visit if the weather is inclement, whether you want watersports, culture or SEAWORLD, a great favourite with the kids, great for getting REAL close to a wide variety of sea animals. The giant stingray is a personal favourite.

The 'Cornish Pasty' is often quoted as the staple diet of Cornishmen and women. Newquay has several shops where you can buy them freshly baked and they make a filling and inexspensive meal, easy for the kids to handle too. We prefer to have a pub lunch, i.e. couple of pints of beer and a pasty. Our favourite place to eat lunch is a pub/restaurant/hotel called The Fort overlooking the main beach of Newquay. The wide variety of food is always good and reasonably priced. There's plenty of room for the kids to play, a good adventure playground kept Alex occupied.

All along the cliffs that lead to the beaches at Newquay you will find several eating places , pubs or restaurants where you can chill out and take in the scenery. Below is one of such places where on this occasion Lyn and I had stopped for a cake and a coffee.

Newquay also has main bus and train stations for those who wish to visit other parts of Cornwall but do not want to do the driving.
