The first production motor cycle emanated from Germany in 1894, a heavy 1488cc. beast of a machine made by Hidebrand&Wolfmuller. The horizontal twin cylinder engine would prove to be the biggest to be fitted to any production motorcycle for almost a century. Although it only produced 2.5hp at 240 rpm it was in great demand. Unfortunately reliability was a problem and eventually the company went bust. Another good try.
